Since 1970, Maly runs his own graphic design studio at Hamburg. Characteristic of his work is his affection for geometrical fundamental forms. He is protagonist of simplicity and longevity and his design is to be characterised by clarity and functionality. Maly is to be considered as one of the leading furniture designers in Europe and received a number of awards. He had individual exhibitions in the ‘Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg’, in the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin and in the red dot-Museum Essen. In 2007, the ‘Werkbiografie Peter Maly’ was published by dumont.
